Hello HealingStrong Members,
About a month ago, a dear friend of my husband’s parents went into hospice and the Lord told me to do something that was really out of my comfort zone.
He persisted. I tried to find a way out of it, but He is resolute. I know His voice enough to know that when He calls me to do something, I better do it. I won’t go into the details of that story today, but I wanted to tell you that through that experience, the Lord showed me that in addition to prayer, there is one offensive weapon that is part of the armor he has given us.
For me to take ground….to move ahead, to conquer my fears, to battle the dark forces that weigh heavy all around, to survive an economic crisis, or a crisis of faith…..He gave this ONE WEAPON that was offensive. It works in tandem with prayer and the other armor he gave us:
- the helmet of salvation
- the breastplate of righteousness,
- the belt of truth firmly buckled around our waist,
- the shield of faith to extinguish the flaming arrows of the enemy, our feet are fitted with the readiness of the gospel of peace – ready to take a stand.
Once we are armored up, He has placed this very effective offensive weapon in our hands….the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. Ephesians 6:17
Do we want to take ground? I don’t want to just exist. I want to TAKE GROUND! In Ephesians 6, He tells us to pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests and to keep alert and always praying for one another, the saints.
I don’t know about you, but I never really thought about it like a weapon, but God does. He tells us to put on the FULL ARMOR.
On August 1st, we started a very large reading project (Genesis to Revelation) every day for one hour, for 75 days. It was birthed through my obedience in an uncomfortable situation. It was also an answer to my prayers for direction as I asked God WHAT CAN I DO? I can’t just sit here and watch things fall apart. What should I do? As I began to share with others, I realized, that they, too, have been feeling the call to get in and read God’s Word. We are doing so in our battle cry for His help.
So, here we are. We just finished day 16, which leaves us about 59 days left….give or take. 🙂 Will you listen in, sign up to read for 10 minutes one evening, and invite your friends and family to do the same.
It has been a great source of peace, and comfort…knowing that I am putting in my mind, soul and spirit the fullness of God’s Word. We have people from all over the United States, Canada, and a few international countries joining us. This Thursday, we’ll even have someone read the Bible in her native tongue, Portuguese.
