Hi HealingStrong, Family! We’re excited to share updates from our HealingStrong home office and community.

First, here is a little laughter and a little Truth for you to share with your loved ones:

“What did one math book say to the other?
I’ve got so many problems!”

“But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.” Psalm 3:3 ESV

Why HealingStrong? A Special Message from Suzy

Today, during community prayer time, we had several of our folks ask for prayer about some really hard issues that speak to the need for an army of support. Have you ever been in that place where you needed that reinforcement? Now more than ever, I do. Today’s session took me back to an important moment during last week’s Around the Word in 80 Days reading… Tom.

Tom closes us every evening in the Lord’s prayer and we ALWAYS look forward to it. Tom has been sent home on several occasions over the past year by doctors who are not quite sure “what to do with him.” Despite feeling discouraged, that hasn’t stopped Tom from rallying around God’s truth and His Word and it has bolstered us, his community, to do the same!

That particular night Tom took a moment to share some insight on Ephesians 6, the Armor of God. Although Tom shared that he had read up a lot on the armor of God, it hadn’t dawned on him until that day that we don’t have armor on our back! And why is that? We have to stand together with others to cover what we can’t see, that which the enemy can see! If we want to move about freely, and not be backed into a corner, we need each other.

I’ve thought about this a lot and isn’t that what we, HealingStrong, are all about? Here are just a few examples of our HealingStrong community in action this month alone. We have each other’s back!

  • When one of the Around the Word in 80 Days hosts, Denise, lost her grandson a few weeks ago, our community gathered around her and her family to encourage and help her through the darkest hour, with someone in the group even helping to raise funds for her son and his family to help with the medical and funeral expenses.
  • When one of our group leaders asked for prayer for her marriage, as they serve in ministry together and the enemy seems to keep his crosshairs right on them, we gathered around the prayer table.
  • When LeeAnn, who is technically blind needed someone to read the Participant Guide to her because she was feeling frustrated, one of our group leaders in another state pulled off the interstate between California and Utah to help her right at that moment.
  • When one of our participants, Fernanda, gave a praise report that her doctor believes she is NED….we were there to cheer with her.
  • When a group leader who is in active healing was recently feeling discouraged, his Group Leader Mentor rallied behind him and nominated him to be the recipient of a donated juicer that our partner, Cherie Calbom donated.
  • When we have participants or even our group leaders walk into a challenging health season, we have each other’s back!

I hope you are realizing the true meaning of HealingStrong and the power of this community! When people ask me what makes HealingStrong different, THIS is what I want them to see.

We care about equipping you with tools physically, emotionally and spiritually to walk through this life learning how to heal strong together. We have each other’s back!

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (NLT)
Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

That’s the Why right there!

We have been supporting people on a healing journey since 2013, and YOU are part of that. I just wanted to say THANK YOU. You have a place in HealingStrong, and we hope you know how much we mean that and how much we need YOU. We are HealingStrong… and Together, We Learn How!

So much Love,

Suzy Griswold
Founder and Director

What God Has Done for Me Through HealingStrong

written by HealingStrong Member, Cedric Ramon Merrick

———

HealingStrong has given me a sense of God’s Healing, Comfort, Power, Purpose, Presence and His Peace. Through HealingStrong and Dawn, Junior, Clay, James and the many members; I now realize I’m not alone. I have a tribe/family! When I first got diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, I thought it was a death sentence. HealingStrong made me see it’s not over, and pointed me to what God says about healing!!! We aren’t meant to take this journey of life alone. I tried the lone wolf mentality…it doesn’t work 😊.

I love how accessible everyone is with their time. When we are down, they are just a phone call or text away. Who does that in this world? We can make more money but we are only given 168 hours a week. Our time is soooooo valuable, to me that is truly a blessing.

So now, I have hope in God for the future. I’m excited to see what He will use this season of my life. I’m praying for everyone who is in need of healing, in Jesus’ mighty name Amen!!! God bless you guys and thank you for allowing me to share.”

Cedric’s Letter to HealingStrong is a testimony to the power of COMMUNITY – and this is exactly what HealingStrong is ALL about! Maybe you or a loved one have asked yourself, “Why HealingStrong? How will they help me on this journey?” The answer? HealingStrong was made to remind people just like you that you’re NEVER alone. That even when the darkest nights try to take over, we can cling to the hope together that His mercies are new every morning.

Is God calling you to share your story of hope and healing with our HealingStrong community? Do you feel that others could be encouraged from your journey? We want to encourage you to send in your story to your Group Leader or, if you don’t have a Group Leader, send it in to help@healingstrong.org – we’d love to hear from you and share your story!

Staff Highlight

Emily has been a part of the HealingStrong team since August of 2020. Despite the many challenges that 2020 brought along with it, Emily jumped right in and quickly became a part of the HealingStrong family. Outside of HealingStrong, Emily is studying to become a Licensed Professional Counselor and enjoys walking with her two dogs, hosting friends and family for a game night, and conversations on her front porch with a cup of coffee in hand.

A couple things I (Suzy) love about working with Emily:
– Her passion for communication and creative, heartfelt writing
– Her silly sense of humor and authentic personality
– Her love and understanding behind the purpose and mission of HealingStrong

Congratulations, Emily on your beautiful marriage to the love of your life, Farris!
