Rub Dirt On It

This month, I’ve been captivated by stories of individuals who have triumphed over incredible challenges. I’ve noted some similarities, and one particular story I want to share with you that has the office buzzing.
Our community is filled with such remarkable folks whose life circumstances haven’t deterred them. Attend a group meeting and you’ll surely encounter one. This last Friday I received some amazing news from our Group Leaders, Rachel and Rob Clausen. Rachel started her group as a support to Rob, who was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. Rob in turn helped to lead and grow a prostate cancer thriver group called the Band of Brothers, formerly PC Boys. These men meet weekly and provide education, strength and support for one another. We have loved watching the two of them minister and support so many people in their community. You can listen to Rob and Rachel’s story on our I Am HealingStrong Podcast.
Rob’s journey took an unexpected turn earlier this year when he developed concerning symptoms. After tests, doctors confirmed a tumor behind his eye and immediate surgery was required. True to their resiliency and faith, Rob and Rachel rallied their prayer warriors and moved forward with strength and great expectancy for God’s goodness. Within a few days, Rob was heading home.
This is a picture of Rob and Rachel as they were leaving the hospital. He is doing well and in physical therapy, and they are looking forward to a future with hope.

For those who have placed their faith in Jesus, the Bible tells us that we are MORE THAN CONQUERORS. In Romans, we are reminded that in trouble, persecution, famine, danger…that in all things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Nothing in all creation will separate us from the love of Christ Jesus, our Lord. Nothing. That’s GREAT news.
We can face our future head on knowing that He is for us, and not against us. Our lives are so much more than the challenges we may face. How we navigate them in a true faith-filled response will ultimately impact our outcomes.
The path to healing is a lifelong journey, with lush green valleys and barren, dangerous stretches. Yet, our future and hope remain secure.
Rob and Rachel, thank you for sharing your journey with us. We stand united in prayer, lifting you up and cheering you on as you continue on your pathway to healing. Let us all run our own races with perseverance, knowing that life is going to throw us curve balls. It’s how we respond that will make all the difference. Don’t do it alone! HealingStrong is here for you. Together, we are stronger.
As Rob’s shirt reminds us, we’ll rub a little dirt on it, get back up, and keep moving forward. The time is now! TRANSLATIONS: Italian, French and Spanish
It’s amazing to see HealingStrong Group Leaders coming together in different countries worldwide. What’s even more impressive is the dedication of these leaders in ensuring that the HealingStrong Curriculum is accessible in their native languages.
Lucia Casada, a Group Leader in Italy, has been working tirelessly to translate the curriculum into Italian. She is working with local editors to ensure the integrity of the translation.
We are also fortunate to have Ann Bersot, our Canadian Group Leader, currently working on French translation, and Maggie Riffler, who leads an online Spanish speaking international group, is diligently updating our Spanish translations. Their efforts are instrumental in making sure that individuals across different languages can benefit from the HealingStrong resources.
We are incredibly grateful to Lucia, Ann, Maggie, and all the Group Leaders who are spearheading these translation initiatives. Their commitment to spreading the HealingStrong message globally is truly inspiring.
