HealingStrong exists to create a faith-based, volunteer-led supportive environment for individuals facing cancer and other diseases. As a registered 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, it was founded in 2013 with a mission to connect, support, and educate individuals facing cancer and other diseases through strategies that assist in rebuilding the body, renewing the soul, and refreshing the spirit in God’s Word.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to HealingStrong.
Tonya’s husband, Chad shares a little more about Tonya’s HealingStrong story:
It began in 2018, before she received her cancer diagnosis. It was during that year that she and her husband, Chad, attended a HealingStrong conference. At the conference, Tonya had the opportunity to learn from renowned speakers such as Dr. Tony from Hope4Cancer and Chris Wark from Chris Beat Cancer. Inspired by what she heard, Tonya made a commitment to follow this path if she ever faced a cancer diagnosis.
Over the next few years, Tonya continued to study and delve deeper into the concepts she had learned at the HealingStrong conference, including the approaches promoted by Hope4Cancer, Chris Wark, and juicing. She recognized that the seeds of this knowledge had been planted by a higher force, as she had already been primed for this journey in 2018.
When Tonya received her cancer diagnosis in 2022, she was already prepared to take the necessary steps. She knew that she needed support, but unfortunately, there was no HealingStrong group near her. Undeterred, Tonya decided to start her own group in 2024, with the dual purpose of helping others and finding support herself.
Becoming a HealingStrong group leader requires training, and Tonya took on this endeavor while navigating her own healing journey. She and Chad had the opportunity to attend HealingStrong’s 10-year anniversary conference, where they were able to meet some of Tonya’s heroes and new friends. This experience filled Tonya with excitement and meant the world to her. It also fueled her determination to start her own group upon returning home.
Tonya was deeply passionate about everything she was involved in, and that certainly included HealingStrong. She understood the value of the support and guidance offered by the organization and wanted others to have the same resources that she had found so valuable.
